The 2007 Texas A&M softball team will kickoff the fall portion of its schedule on Monday as it hosts the Navarro College Bulldogs in a doubleheader at the Aggie Softball Complex. The first of two games is schedule to start at 4 p.m.
?We are really excited to get the game portion of our fall season under way,? commented A&M head coach Jo Evans. ?The fall is an important time for our team each year because it allows us the opportunity to integrate our new players into the program and really start to build the foundation for our team going into the spring season.?
Fifteen letterwinners from the 2006 team, that posted an overall record of 34-19, are joined by five newcomers to complete the ?â„¢07 roster.
Returning starters from last season are highlighted by All-Big 12 selections Jamie Hinshaw (Missouri City, Texas), Amanda Scarborough (Magnolia, Texas), Megan Gibson (Spring, Texas) and Sharonda McDonald (Houston, Texas). Also returning as starters are infielders Joy Davis (Austin, Texas), Jami Lobpries (Wharton, Texas) and Holly Ridley (Sugar Land, Texas). Coming back to help McDonald patrol the Aggie outfield is Ronda Smith (Baytown, Texas).
The new additions to the softball squad include Mandy Gegen (Houston, Texas), Macie Morrow (Missouri City, Texas), Alex Reynolds (Tomball, Texas), Bailey Schroeder (College Station, Texas) and Emily Shadow (Bellville, Texas).
The softball team will turn around to face Temple Junior College in a doubleheader on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. start-time.
