Texas A&M freshman goalkeeper Kristin Arnold earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season, the league office announced today.
?Kristin has done well for us all season, and she has been improving each week that she?â„¢s been in the program, but she really stepped it up this last weekend,? said A&M head coach G Guerrieri. ?I?â„¢m excited to see how well she?â„¢s done as a freshman, understanding that she?â„¢s got an amazing future ahead.?
Arnold made 12 saves on the weekend, posting her fourth and fifth A&M career shutouts. Arnold recorded five saves in her home state of Colorado on Friday night as the Aggies cruised past the 14th-ranked Buffaloes 3-0. Against Kansas on Sunday, Arnold maintained composure inside the goal as she fended off a 12-shot Jayhawk attack in the second period, where she made five of her seven saves on the day, sending the game into overtime as the Aggies needed just three extra minutes to net the golden goal for the 1-0 victory and improve to a perfect 6-0-0 Big 12 record.
