Kyle Thebeau threw four innings of scoreless relief on Saturday morning to help lead the Plowboys to a 5-3 win over the Farmers and claim the annual Texas A&M Baseball Fall World Series Championship at Olsen Field.

Thebeau fanned two, allowed just two hits and did not walk a man en route to earning the save.

The Farmers took the lead in the bottom of the second with an unearned run. Caleb Shofner reached when Plowboys?â„¢ starting pitcher David Newmann threw wildly to first base on a comebacker. Shofner moved to second on a slow chopper to first and scored on a clutch two-out single to left by Josh Stinson.

A pair of solo homers by Joey Register and Blake Stouffer gave the Farmers a 3-0 lead after three innings.

The Plowboys stormed back with four runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead, 4-3. Brandon Hicks started the rally with a solo home run off Plowboys?â„¢ starter Matt Ueckert. The homer was the second in as many games for Hicks. Spencer Jackson singled, and with two outs, moved to second when Jeff Hulett reached on a fielder?â„¢s choice. Justin Walker delivered a two-out RBI single and Luke Anders followed with a single that plated two runs.

Ueckert was lifted after four innings of work. He shouldered the loss, allowing four runs ?- one earned ?- on seven hits.

Newmann and the Farmers dodged a bullet in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on second and third and no outs, Newmann fanned Damon Aaron and coaxed Register and Ben Feltner to harmlessly pop out to the infield to end the inning and the threat.

Newmann threw five-complete, allowing three runs ?- two earned ?- on five hits to earn the win.

Farmers?â„¢ reliever Evan Gerald threw three scoreless innings before running into trouble in the top of the eighth. A walk to Jackson and back-to-back singles by Austin Boggs and Hulett plated a run to increase to Plowboys?â„¢ lead to 5-3. Kiel Renfro then replaced Gerald and struck out the next two men to end the inning.

The Aggies open the spring season against Texas Southern on February 6. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Olsen Field.
