Tuesday kicks-off the beginning of the Maroon & White Series which is a three-game, intrasquad, set (Tuesday-Thursday) that marks the end of the fall practice season for the Aggie softball team.

The roster will be split into two teams that will face-off over the three days. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m. each day and will be played at the Aggie Softball Complex.

?Our Maroon & White Series is a good way for our team to end the fall season,? commented Aggie head coach Jo Evans. ?Splitting the squad up into two different teams allows everyone an equal opportunity to compete and showcase their abilities each of the three days. Every one of our players has worked extremely hard over the past few weeks and they are looking forward to closing out the fall season with a little fun spirited intrasquad competition.?

The Aggies finished their fall game schedule over the weekend with a perfect 3-0 showing at the Spring Klein College Classic in Spring, Texas with wins over Texas State (7-2), Texas-San Antonio (6-2) and Galveston College (10-2). Two of the Aggies?â„¢ games (Nicholls State and New Mexico State) were cancelled due to inclement weather.

Megan Gibson earned the complete game victory over the Bobcats. She gave up two runs on four hits and struck out three. At the plate Gibson was 1-3 with a homerun.

Amanda Scarborough and Beverly Rowan both had a big game in the batter?â„¢s box, as well, each going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Scarborough threw six innings against the Roadrunners allowing two runs on three hits, and posting three K?â„¢s. Gibson?â„¢s bat remained hot in game two as she was 3-for-3 with two bombs and four RBI. Ronda Smith contributed to the scoring hitting a single shot over the fence of her own.

Emily Shadow started against Galveston College and Jill Weynand closed out the game. The two combined to give up just two runs on four hits. Shadow and Weynand each struck out two as the fifth inning run-rule came into effect.

A&M came up big at the plate again with Sharonda McDonald scoring twice after drawing three walks. Scarborough went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored as did Alex Reynolds. Rowan was a perfect 3-for-3 scoring twice and driving in two runs.

?I saw a lot of really good things from our team this weekend,? said Evans. ?The Spring-Klein tournament is a great way to bring our fall season to a close because we get a chance to play a lot of games against a broad range of competition, allowing all of our players to get a different look at a variety of defensive and offensive situations. I was really impressed with our aggressiveness at the plate as well as our effort in the circle. We made great adjustments to the pitchers we faced and our pitchers did a great job keeping the opposing hitters off balance and throwing outs.?
