Iowa State ended a 21-match losing streak against Texas A&M, defeating the Aggies, 30-25, 30-20, 28-30, 30-25 in front of 623 at Hilton Coliseum.

The Cyclones, who were 0-20 all-time against the Aggies in Big 12 Conference matches, improve to 13-7 overall and finish the first half of league play at 5-5. A&M falls to 9-9, 2-8.

In the opening game, A&M scored three consecutive points to take its first lead at 4-3. The Aggies built their biggest lead at 11-8 following a block by Christi Hahn and Lindsey Yon, but the Cyclones answered with seven consecutive points to regain the lead and force an A&M timeout. The Aggies got a kill by Yon and a block by Mary Batis and Hahn coming out of the timeout to get within 15-13 but were unable to get any closer. ISU built its largest lead at 25-18 following a three-point run. A&M, which was outhit .341 to .170 in the game, cut the lead to 29-25 before Nicole Lorenzen tooled the Aggie block for a kill and clinched the game for ISU.

ISU never trailed in Game 2 en route to a two-game lead. The Cyclones, who outhit A&M .326 to .045 in the game, were ahead, 4-3, when they went used a 9-3 run to begin distancing themselves from the Aggies. A&M went on a 5-1 run late in the game to get back within 23-18 but could get no closer. At 27-20, the Cyclones got back-to-back kills and then blocked an Aggie attack to end the game.

The Aggies took a 7-6 edge to begin Game 3, but ISU ran off four points to take its second lead of the stanza. The Cyclones maintained a 15-14 advantage when A&M went on an 8-1 run. The Aggies extended their lead to 26-18 before ISU rallied for seven unanswered points. Sarah Ammerman ended the run with a kill, and the teams exchanged points until ISU got consecutive kills to knot the score at 28. Hahn then posted back-to-back kills to give A&M the win.

ISU built a 7-5 lead in the fourth game when A&M scored three straight points to take its first lead since a 1-0 edge to start the game. The lead was short lived as the Cyclones went on a 6-1 run. ISU would maintain the lead throughout the remainder of the game while outhitting A&M, .366 to .244. A&M twice got within a point, the last time coming at 21-20. ISU went on to build a 29-24 lead, but Hahn held off match point by putting down her 12th kill of the match. Lauren Cummings then ended the match and clinched the victory for the Cyclones with her 15th kill of the match.

Batis led the Aggies with 16 kills, and Kelsey Bryant also reached double figures with 11. Zanny Castillo led in digs with a career-high 21, and Batis added 18.

Katie Jessen led the Cyclones with 22 kills. Nicole Lorenzen and Erin Boeve added 17 and 12, respectively. Boeve, who ranks eighth in the nation in blocks per game, finished with seven blocks as ISU outblocked A&M, 13-8.

The Aggies return home Saturday to take on Kansas at 6:30 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum. The Jayhawks, who defeated A&M in five games in Lawrence, Kan., earlier this season, are 0-11 all-time against the Aggies in matches played in College Station.
