One run in the first and two in the fifth drove the White team to take the series two games to one with a 3-0 shutout of the Maroon team Thursday afternoon at the Aggie Softball Complex.

Freshman Macie Morrow had a big day at the plate going 3-for-5 with a double, two singles and two runs scored.

Morrow lead-off the bottom of the first inning with a single and advanced to the second as the ball skid by the left fielder. A pop-up, walk and a strike out later, Ronda Smith hit an RBI single up the middle to score Morrow.

Starting pitcher Amanda Scarborough held the Maroon team hitless until Sharonda McDonald laid down a two-out bunt in the top of the fifth.

In the bottom half of the inning, with two outs, Bailey Schroeder hit a double to left field. Morrow followed up with a single to center, driving in Schroeder right before Joy Davis ripped a triple in the center field gap to push the score 3-0 in White?â„¢s favor.

Scarborough threw six shutout innings giving up just three hits on the day while striking out three Maroon batters. Jill Weynand contributed one shutout inning of work, as well, for the White team.

Megan Gibson worked the first two innings of the ballgame for Maroon. She gave up one run on three hits. Lisa Gorzycki worked the final four innings allowing two runs on five hits.

The game marked the conclusion of the fall season for the Aggie softball team. The 2007 spring season will begin on Feb. 9 at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.
