Texas A&M sophomore Bronson Burgoon fired a two-under-par 70 on Tuesday and is tied for 12th place after the opening round of the PGA Tour's First Stage Q-School at Cypresswood Golf Club.
The four-round tournament continues through Friday. The top 26 players and ties will advance to the Second Stage of the Q-School in mid-November at various sites around the country. The final stage will be Nov. 29-Dec. 4 at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
Burgoon is competing as an amateur to retain his college eligibility should he not earn his tour card.
Four former A&M players are also playing at Cypresswood -- Anthony Rodriguez (69, tied for 7th), Stephen Reed (71, tied for 17th), Marco Gortana (73, tied for 35th), and David Schultz (73, tied for 35th).
