After losing a nail-biter to Lamar in Monday's semifinals, No. 12-ranked Texas A&M will face No. 2 Florida for third place on Tuesday at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship at Colonial Country Club.

The 15th-ranked Cardinals squeaked by the Aggies by the total holes won tiebreaker, 25-23. Oliver Bekker put Lamar on the board first by beating Robert Gates, 7 and 5, but the Cardinals were trailing in three of the other four matches with five holes remaining.

The Aggies countered when Bronson Burgoon downed Casey Clendenon, 4 and 2, and Trey Todd defeated Lamar's Justin Harding, 2-up, to take the lead. A&M's Martin Piller and Lamar's Russell Helson halved the next match.

In the final match, the Cardinals' Dusty Smith and the Aggies' Matt Van Zandt were all square going into the final hole. Van Zandt needed to make a seven-footer to halve the match and clinch the victory for A&M, but missed.

"Everyone on our team was really disappointed," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "We were one shot away from being in the finals, but we learned an important lesson about the importance of every shot and every hole. That's something that will help us down the road. Florida is an outstanding team, but our guys are excited about the challenge of playing another top-five team."

No. 3-ranked Oklahoma State advanced to the final by beating the Gators, 3-1-1.

In other third round action, No. 20 Duke eliminated No. 6 Clemson and No. 4 Georgia ousted No. 5 UCLA in the winners consolation A bracket. In the consolation bracket, No. 16 UNLV knocked out Washington and No. 8 Coastal Carolina was sent home by No. 13 Arizona State.
