No. 12-ranked Texas A&M cruised past No. 2 Florida, 4-1, to claim third place at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship at Colonial Country Club.

No. 3 Oklahoma State defeated No. 15 Lamar, 3-2, to claim the championship.

None of A&M?â„¢s four individual match victories went past the 16th hole. Bronson Burgoon eased past Florida?â„¢s Billy Horschell, 5 and 3; Martin Piller beat Manuel Villegas, 3 and 2; Robert Gates defeated Toby Ragland, 4 and 3; and Trey Todd downed Tyler Brown, 3 and 2. Tyson Alexander managed the Gators?â„¢ only win with a 3 and 2 victory against Matt Van Zandt.

?We played great today,? A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. ?We jumped on them early and never gave them a chance to get back into the match. Our guys weren?â„¢t going to let another one slip away. It was a very impressive way to finish off the fall.?

A&M and Oklahoma State were the only teams that did not lose a match. The Aggies were tied, 2-2-1, by Lamar in the semifinals, but the Cardinal advanced on the tiebreaker. A&M finished with a sparking 14-5-1 individual match record, second only to the Cowboys 15-4-1 mark. The Aggies beat No. 13 Arizona State and No. 4 Georgia in the first two rounds.

Burgoon finished the tournament with a perfect 4-0 mark, followed by Gates and Todd at 3-1, Piller at 2-1-1 and Van Zandt at 2-2.

The tournament concluded A&M?â„¢s fall schedule. The Aggies return to action at the John Burns Intercollegiate Feb. 21-23 in Hawaii.
