The 7th-ranked Texas A&M soccer team had three of its members selected to the All-Big 12 first team, four to the All-Big 12 second team and three to the Big 12 All-Newcomer team, the conference announced this week.

First team selections included senior forward Suzzette Devloo, junior midfielder Amy Berend and sophomore defender Emily Peterson.

Making the list for the Aggies on the second team are junior midfielders Paige Carmichael and Allison Martino, junior forward Ashlee Pistorius and freshman goalkeeper Kristin Arnold.

Rounding out the Aggie selections on the Big 12 All-Newcomer squad are Arnold, defender Nicole Ketchum and midfielder Amber Gnatzig.

The 2006 season earned A&M its fifth Big 12 regular season title, third consecutive (1997, 2002, 2004 and 2005) and a trip to the 2006 Big 12 Championship in San Antonio as the No. 1 seed.

Wrapping up her senior season, Devloo (Houston, Texas) has totaled the most points against Big 12 opponents (17); she also leads the league in goals scored during conference contests (8).

Berend (Highland Village, Texas), a member of the Big 12 All-Newcomer team in 2004, has posted four goals and four assists thus far, three of the goals and one of the assists coming in Big 12 action.

Peterson (Tulsa, Okla.) has helped the Aggie backline post nine shutouts this season, playing in all, starting 17, of A&M?â„¢s 18 matches.

Carmichael (Glendale, Ariz.), last year?â„¢s Big 12 Championship Defensive MVP, has patrolled the Aggie midfield in all 18 games, chipping in one goal and two assists.

Martino (Draper, Utah) is tied for the team lead and league lead in assists (6), registering all six in a span of just three league games.

As a freshman, Arnold (Centennial, Colo.) holds second in the Big 12 in goals against average (0.77) and is third career in Aggie freshman keepers for shutouts (6).

Pistorius (Bloomington, Ill.), an All-Big 12 first team selection in 2005, is currently the Aggies?â„¢ point leader with 20, having scored eight goals and registering four assists on the season.

Ketchum (Cypress, Texas) has logged eight starts for A&M and made an appearance in all 10 of the Big 12 matches. She?â„¢s netted three goals and added an assist.

Gnatzig (Humble, Texas) leads the Aggie freshman in points with 12 having found the back of the net five times while adding two assists on the year.

The Aggies?â„¢ nine selections are the most this year of any Big 12 school.

The Aggies will face the No. 8 seed Baylor Lady Bears on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Blossom Soccer Stadium. Live video of the match will be available free of charge on the new Aggies All-Access beginning at 10:45 a.m. Those inside Blossom Soccer Stadium can listen to the broadcast on or around 89.9 FM.
