The Texas A&M volleyball team returns home Sunday to play host to the Iowa State Cyclones. First serve is at 2 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum. In addition, the Aggies will host a free youth clinic following the match.
Everyone with an Aggie Ring will receive free admission to the match, and
anyone who brings his or her football ticket stub from Saturday?â„¢s Nebraska game will receive a $2 ticket.
The Aggies are 11-13 overall and 4-12 in the Big 12 after falling to No. 8 Texas, 3-0, in Austin on Wednesday.
Iowa State is 17-8 overall and enters the weekend tied with Missouri for fifth place in the Big 12 with a 9-6 record. The Cyclones had a five-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday after falling to No. 1 and undefeated Nebraska in four games.
Christi Hahn leads the Aggies with a .369 hitting percentage and 4.15 points per game. Mary Batis leads in kills with a 3.57 average, and middle blocker Kelly Stanton averages a team-best 1.27 blocks per game. Libero Zanny Castillo is the Aggies?â„¢ dig leader with 3.42 per game, and setter Courtnee Rhodes is averaging 9.28 assists per game.
Iowa State is led by Erin Boeve who leads the league and entered the week ranked eighth in the country with 1.63 blocks per game. Setter Kaylee Manns ranks 18th in the nation with 13.22 assists per game. Katie Jessen leads the Cyclones with 3.9 per game, and Katie Churm is averaging a team-leading 3.97 digs per game.
A&M owns a commanding 22-2 lead in the all-time series. The Cyclones, however, snapped a 21-match losing skid against the Aggies and defeated A&M for the first time in a Big 12 match when the teams met earlier this season in Ames. ISU outhit A&M, .301 to .168 in the 30-25, 30-20, 28-30, 30-25 victory. Jessen led the Cyclones with 22 kills. Nicole Lorenzen and Boeve added 17 and 12, respectively. Boeve also finished with seven blocks as ISU outblocked A&M, 13-8.
Batis led the Aggies with 16 kills, and Kelsey Bryant also reached double figures with 11. Castillo led in digs with a career-high 21, and Batis added 18.
The Aggies are at Nebraska and at Texas Tech next week and then close out the regular season at home against Missouri on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
