November 13, 2006
Texas A&M head baseball coach Rob Childress announced the signing of 10 high school players on Monday.
All 10 are currently seniors in high school and will report to A&M's campus next fall. Of the signees, four are pitchers, four are position players and the other two are two-way players.
"Our class is not as large as it was last season, but we signed the players we wanted to sign and are anxious for their arrival next fall," Childress said. "I think Matt Deggs and Jeremy Talbot (assistant coaches) did a great job of recruiting to address our needs as a baseball team. Our talent level is continuing to get better and deeper, but we are also recruiting the right players who are not afraid to put in the sweat and effort it takes to become a championship-caliber team."
Last season, the Aggies' signing class was ranked No. 11 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and No. 16 by Baseball America Magazine.
