After opening the season with an 81-49 win against Prairie View A&M on Friday, Texas A&M climbed one spot to No. 12 in The Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches' polls released on Monday.
Florida remains No. 1 in both polls. Three A&M opponents are ranked in the top seven with identical rankings in each poll -- No. 3 Kansas, No. 6 UCLA and No. 7 LSU. Texas is ranked 19th by The AP and 18th by the coaches.
Oklahoma State received votes in both polls, while Kansas State nabbed votes in the AP poll.
A&M will play host to the Shelby Metcalf Classic Friday through Sunday at Reed Arena. A&M plays Lamar on Friday, Louisiana Tech on Saturday and Saint Louis on Sunday. Saint Louis received two votes in the coaches' poll.
