An Army Veteran played outstanding on Veteran?â„¢s Day as Texas A&M linebacker Mark Dodge was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his 17-tackle performance against Nebraska on Saturday.
Dodge started in place of injured linebacker Misi Tupe and recorded 17 tackles and picked off a Zac Taylor pass with 2:50 left in the game. Saturday was even more special to Dodge because it was his mom?â„¢s birthday. Dodge, 25, served four years in the United States Army before attending Feather River Community College. He signed and enrolled early at Texas A&M last spring. His desire and work ethic earned the respect of his teammates and coaches and he was placed on the team?â„¢s Leadership Council.
The Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week was Kansas State quarterback Josh Freeman and there was a tie for Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week between KSU?â„¢s return man Yamon Figurs and Colorado?â„¢s placekicker, Mason Crosby.
