Texas A&M volleyball coach Laurie Corbelli has been selected to be a charter member of the L.V. Berkner High School Athletic Hall of Honor, Berkner school officials announced.

The inaugural induction ceremony will take place during the Berkner - Plano West High School football game on Friday at Wildcat Ram Stadium in Dallas. Others to be inducted include Everson Walls, a former Dallas Cowboys all-pro defensive back who also played for the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns; Michael Connell, a pro golfer currently on the PGA Tour; and John Briscoe, a professional baseball player drafted by the Oakland Athletics.

The inductees will be the first to have their photos and list of accomplishments hung in the Athletic Hall of Honor, currently being constructed in the athletic wing at Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas.

?This allows us to honor former athletes and coaches who have been positive contributors to Berkner and the community,? Berkner athletic director Jim Ledford said,

The former Laurie Flachmeier graduated from Berkner in 1975. She attended Texas Lutheran College and led the Bulldogs to AIAW National Championship titles in 1975 and 1976. She went on to become a member of the United States Women?â„¢s National Volleyball Team and was a two-time member of the U.S. Olympic Team, capturing a silver medal at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles.

She also earned MVP honors at the 1989 MLV all-star game and was the recipient of the prestigious USA Volleyball /Flo Hyman All-Time Great Female Player Award in 1998.
