The No. 22 Texas A&M football team christened the football portion of the McFerrin Athletic Center with a little over one hour workout in shorts and shoulder pads on Friday.

?This is a very impressive facility and we appreciate all of the people who helped make this happen,? Aggie Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione said. ?It starts with a visionary like our athletic director Bill Byrne and he follows through on a project like this. The 12th Man Foundation, our University administration, the McFerrin family and so many others helped make this possible. Let?â„¢s not forget the work crews that actually put in extra time so that these senior football players could prepare for a bowl game in this facility.?

Wide receiver Chad Schroeder tied for the team lead in receptions and is a fifth-year senior from Austin Westlake.

?We could see the guys who were working on this project and we really appreciate the extra effort that went into getting us in the facility prior to our bowl game,? Schroeder said. ?I know as a group of seniors, we are very appreciative to everyone who had anything to do with this building. It means a lot to everyone on our team, but especially the seniors.?

The Aggies will continue to prepare for the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl with a short practice on Saturday. The next scheduled practice will be Saturday, Dec. 9 as the Aggies begin final exams next week.
