Six Texas A&M soccer players were honored as members of the 2006 Soccer Buzz All-Central Region Team, editors of the magazine announced this week.
Headlining the first team for the Aggies are juniors Ashlee Pistorius, Amy Berend and Paige Carmichael. Second team members include sophomore Emily Peterson and freshman Kristin Arnold. Allison Martino rounds out the honors as a part of the third team.
This is the third year Pistorius has been listed on the first team. Carmichael receives her second Soccer Buzz All-Central Region accolade, while Berend, Peterson, Arnold and Martino are earning their first.
The 2006 season also marked the third consecutive year the Aggies repeated as the Big 12 regular season champs. The A&M soccer team also made its eighth trip to the NCAA Third Round and third appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinal match.
Twenty-one schools had at least one player named to one of three all-regional teams. A&M?â„¢s six marked the most honorees by any Central Region team. This is the 11th season the online magazine presented postseason awards.
In addition to being named to the second team, Arnold was listed on the Soccer Buzz?â„¢s All-Freshman team, along with fellow newcomer Amber Gnatzig.
