
Aggies' Season Ends with 11-6 Loss at KU

The Aggies scored two runs in the first and added another four in the final three frames, but it was not enough as Kansas defeated Texas A&M 11-6 to complete the weekend sweep.
With the loss, the Aggies end the season at 25-30-1 overall and 6-20-1 in Big 12 play. Kansas improved to 38-23 and 12-14.
The Aggies took an early 2-0 lead in the first. Blake Stouffer scored the first run of the game on a suicide squeeze executed by Jose Salazar. Ryan Hill followed with a two-out single to drive in Kyle Colligan.
Kansas struck in the bottom of the third, scoring seven runs on five hits. With runners on second and third, Kansas shortstop Ritchie Price hit a two RBI single to center field that evened the score. John Allman added another single with the bases loaded to drive in two more. Erik Morrison drove in another with a stand-up double before Ryne Price added an RBI fielder?™s choice and Dylan Parzyk an RBI single.
Consecutive doubles by KU?™s Jared Schweitzer and Gus Milner in the fourth extended the Jayhawk lead to 8-2. A RBI single by Erik Morrison drove in Milner to push the lead to seven.
Texas A&M cut the lead to 9-5 in the seventh. Austin Boggs led off the inning with a walk followed by a Josh Stinson single. A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third with no outs. Anthony Vasquez drove in Boggs on a ground out to shortstop and Stinson scored on an RBI single by John Infante. Blake Stouffer added a RBI double.
The Jayhawks added two more insurance runs in the seventh to answer the Aggies. With the bases loaded and one out, Schweitzer added his second double of the game and drove in two to extend the lead to 11-5.
The Aggies added one more run in their final at bat. With runners on the corners, Stouffer hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 11-6.
Both starters earned the decisions, with Kyle Thebeau (3-6) taking the loss for the Aggies and Ricky Fairchild (6-6) recording the win for KU. Thebeau allowed seven runs and four hits in 2 1/3 innings, while walking four and fanning two. Fairchild lasted 6 2/3 and allowed five hits, four earned runs and three walks while striking out two.
