The fifth-ranked Texas A&M women?â„¢s swimming team will take on the University of Miami in the third annual Matt Gribble Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla., on Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern.
The Aggies (5-0) have been holding two-a-day workouts at the University of Miami pool since Sunday evening and will continue to do so through Tuesday.
A&M has yet to be beaten as a unit this season. The Aggies have won all five of their dual meets as well as both the Big 12 Relays and inaugural Art Adamson Invitational team titles.
The University of Miami enters Friday?â„¢s meet with a 2-2 dual meet record. They earned a sixth-place finish at the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C., in November as well. The Hurricanes are coached by former SMU assistant Christie Shefchunas, who is in her first year with Miami.
Matt Gribble, the namesake for Friday?â„¢s meet, was a two-time NCAA champion for the Miami men?â„¢s team in 1982-83. He was named to the U.S. Olympic Team in 1980 and 1984 and was a former world record holder and world champion in the 100-meter butterfly.
