The fifth-ranked Texas A&M women?™s swimming & diving team will be looking to complete the first undefeated dual meet season in school history this weekend.
First the Aggies (7-0) will travel to Houston (15-3) on Friday to take on the Cougars at the Campus Recreation Center & Wellness Natatorium at 4 p.m. A&M has defeated Houston 16 straight times dating back to the 1990-91 season. In their last meeting, the Aggies walked away with a 162-113 win in College Station on Nov. 4, 2005.
On Saturday at noon, A&M will close out its dual meet schedule by hosting Louisiana State (3-3) at the Student Rec Center Natatorium. The Aggies have won five straight over the Tigers, including a 168-126 win at LSU last Jan. 21. A&M will also be looking to take over the lead in the all-time series. The two schools are tied with 12 wins each since their first meeting on Feb. 4, 1978.
Almost half of A&M?™s wins this season have come against ranked opposition. The Aggies have defeated No. 7 SMU, then-No. 11 Texas, and then-No. 25 Oregon State in dual meets over the last few months. A&M beat then-No. 10 Michigan as well as the Mustangs at the Art Adamson Invitational in November as well.
Saturday?™s meet will be Senior Day for a tiny group that has seen the Aggies steadily climb the national rankings during their time in College Station. Meghan Nebera (Brentwood, Tenn.), Rebecca Sturdy (Anacortes, Wash.) and co-captain Whitney Thomson (Allen) will all be honored prior to the LSU meet.
Admission to the LSU meet is free of charge. The 12th Man Team Rewards Program will be in attendance to scan its members.
For those not able to attend Saturday?™s meet, live video streaming will be available for free at www.AggieAthletics.com. Live stats are also scheduled to be available online.
