Tonight?â„¢s swimming and diving dual meet between Texas A&M and SMU has gone from an intense in-state rivalry to a Top 25 showdown, according to the most recent national dual meet ranking released by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
On the strength of the Aggies?â„¢ team victory at the UC-Irvine Relays and the upset win over LSU earlier this month, A&M vaulted to No. 24 in the first poll of 2007. The Mustangs are also ranked for the first time at No. 25. Despite falling to the Aggies last Saturday, LSU climbed to No. 23 in the ranking.
Tonight the focus for the Aggies will be on the Mustangs, but on Saturday their attention will shift to their State Farm Lone Star Showdown with the top-ranked Texas Longhorns at 2 p.m. in Austin. The Longhorns are a perfect 7-0 in dual meets in 2006-07 and received all 10 first-place votes in the CSCAA poll.
