Texas A&M soccer freshmen, Kristin Arnold and Nicole Ketchum have been selected to participate in the first training camp for the Under-20 Women?â„¢s National team. The training camp will run from Feb. 4-11 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Arnold, A&M?â„¢s goalkeeper, maintained a 0.90 goals against average, the fourth best by an Aggie keeper in a single season, second best by an Aggie freshman keeper, while posting a 15-5-1 record, as the Aggies won their third consecutive Big 12 regular season championship and made their third trip to the Elite Eight. Along with All-Big12 accolades, Arnold earned first team freshman honors from Soccer America.
Ketchum, a member of the All-Big 12 Newcomer squad, played on the backline in 21 of A&M?â„¢s matches this season. She netted three goals, adding two assists for a total of eight points. The three goals came in back-to-back starts in Big 12 action.
The team will aim to qualify for the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Chile. The 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will mark the second time the event will be held as a U-20 tournament after having been staged as a U-19 event in the first two incarnations.
