Texas A&M's Trey Todd closed with his second straight 3-under-par 69 on Friday to lead the Aggies to a third-place finish at the John Burns Intercollegiate at Leilehua Golf Course.

BYU won the 22-team tournament with a 30-under 834, followed by UNLV (842) and A&M (287-282-286=855).

SMU's Frank Wrenn captured individual honors with a 13-under total of 67-67-69=203, edging BYU's Jake Ellison (69-69-66=204) by one stroke.

Bronson Burgoon led A&M, tying for 19th place (71-70-71=212), while Todd tied for 26th (76-69-69=214), Austin Schauer tied for 32nd (74-70-72=216), Robert Gates tied for 44th (71-73-74=218) and Martin Piller tied for 52nd (71-73-75=219). Clay Hodge, competing as an individual, tied for 30th (72-71-72=215).

"We're happy with our finish but we don't feel like we played anywhere close to our ability," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "We'll get back to work and try to keep improving and getting better as the season goes on."

The Aggies return to action at the Southern Highlands Collegiate March 9-11 in Las Vegas.
