The Big 12 champion Texas A&M women?â„¢s swimming & diving team was awarded the No. 5 spot in the final College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) top 25 dual meet poll released today.

The Aggies (9-0) have been ranked No. 5 in the nation in the dual meet poll ever since a 174-125 victory over the University of Texas on Nov. 3. The No. 5 ranking is the highest in school history. Entering this season, A&M had never been ranked higher than a tie for eighth.

A&M is one of only four teams in the top 25 that ended the year undefeated. Only No. 1 Stanford (10-0), No. 8 Indiana (5-0) and No. 16 Penn State (10-0) ended their dual meet season without a loss.

The only teams ranked ahead of A&M other than the top-ranked Cardinal are preseason No. 1 California (10-1), defending NCAA champion Auburn (6-1) and perennial NCAA title contender Arizona (6-2). The Aggies finished ahead of national powers Florida (No. 6, 10-2) and Georgia (No. 7, 10-1) as well state rivals Texas (No. 10, 2-6) and SMU (No. 12, 4-4).

The Aggies are eagerly anticipating the NCAA?â„¢s announcement later this week of official competitors for the NCAA Championships scheduled for March 8-10 in Minneapolis, Minn.
