Twelve members of the Big 12 champion Texas A&M women?™s swimming & diving team will represent the Aggies at the 2007 NCAA Championships scheduled for March 8-10 in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Aggies will bring the sixth-largest group of swimmers to this year?™s national meet. Defending national champion Auburn heads the list along with Arizona 18 swimmers invited, the maximum allowed. Stanford (16), California (15), and Florida (14) are the only other teams with more swimmers qualified than Texas A&M. Divers will be added to each team?™s roster upon the conclusion of the zone diving meets being held this weekend.
In the Big 12 Conference, A&M heads the list with 12 athletes while Texas had 10 swimmers earn spots into the meet. Kansas ranks third with three while Iowa State, Missouri and Nebraska each have one swimmer apiece.
A&M will send two seniors (Meghan Nebera and Rebecca Sturdy), two juniors (Erin Mahoney and Jenni Stratton), five sophomores (Triin Aljand, Codie Hansen, Kristen Heiss, Christine Marshall, Julia Wilkinson) and three freshmen (Alia Atkinson, Melissa Hain, Emily Neal) to the NCAA meet.
Each of the Aggies?™ five relays are qualified for the meet with all five ranked amongst the top seven nationally while both the 400-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays enter the meet ranked No. 3 in the country.
