*A&M Coach Billy Gillispie served as an assistant coach at Tulsa from 1997-00 under current Kansas Coach Bill Self. Gillispie also was an assistant to Self at Illinois (2000-02). *Texas A&M staffer Jerrance Howard played for Self at Illinois from 2000-03.
*One of the Aggies' November signees, Derrek Lewis, is from Union High School in Tulsa.
*Before coming to A&M in 2004, A&M head coach Billy Gillispie had previous experience in the Big 12 Tournament as an assistant coach at Baylor under Harry Miller. The No. 9-seeded Bears fell to No. 8 seed Oklahoma State, 80-66, in the opening game of the inaugural tournament in 1997.
*Billy Gillispie and Texas assistant coach Rodney Terry were assistants on Harry Miller's staff at Baylor from 1995-97.

In addition, he coached the AAU Dallas Mustangs, which included Oklahoma State's Byron Eaton and Terrel Harris, Iowa State's Wesley Johnson and A&M's Donald Sloan and Derrick Roland.
