No. 12 Aggies Challenge Tough Field in Austin

The No. 12-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team will compete at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday at Austin Country Club.

The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and a final 18 holes on Tuesday on the par-72, 6,848-yard course.

In addition to A&M, the 14-team field includes No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 8 UNLV, No. 9 BYU, No. 21 Texas, No. 23 Tulsa, TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Auburn, Purdue, Kent State, New Mexico and New Mexico State.

Representing the Aggies will be sophomore Bronson Burgoon, junior Martin Piller, junior Bobby Gates, junior Trey Todd and sophomore Matt Van Zandt. Freshman Austin Schauer will compete as an individual.

"We're always excited about competing in Austin," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "The Morris Williams is a great tournament with a great tradition. We've improved every year we've played there and this is a chance for us to get something going."

The Aggies are coming off a sixth-place finish at the Schenkel EZ-GO Invitational last week in Statesboro, Ga. Burgoon tied for seventh place to lead A&M.
