"Texas is having a very good season," A&M head coach Jo Evans commented. "They are young and their underclassmen are making a great contribution. We look forward to playing in Austin and the opportunity to compete against another team in the top ten. Our team is playing well and it should be a great game."

The Aggies enter Wednesday's game with a 28-3 overall, 2-0 conference record after handing the Iowa State Cyclone a pair of losses (4-1, 8-0) in College Station this past weekend. In the circle, Amanda Scarborough picked up her 13th win of the season on Saturday with Megan Gibson earning her 12th win on Sunday. At the plate, the duo has combined for 10 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs and 49 RBIs.

Texas owns a 25-7 season record and is 1-1 in Big 12 play after splitting the series with No. 3 Oklahoma in Austin this weekend. For the Longhorns, Loryn Johnson is batting .364 with nine doubles, four home runs and 19 RBIs. The freshman infielder has started all 32 of Texas' contests this season.

The Aggies and Longhorns faced-off four times in 2006 with each team coming away with two victories. Aggie junior, Jami Lobpries hit her first career grand slam off Texas-standout Cat Osterman, in the final meeting between the two teams, at the Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City. A&M went on to win the game 5-0. Texas holds a slight 14-12 advantage in the all-time series.

The game is worth a half a point in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown. Texas is up in the standings 6-5. More information about the Showdown can be found at http://lonestarshowdown.net.
