"Our team is coming off a great win against Oklahoma," A&M head coach Jo Evans said. "This should be a great match up. Both teams are very balanced and have had many wins against some of the nation's best teams."
In the second week of Big 12 play, the Aggies (29-5, 3-2 in Big 12) posted a 1-2 record, dropping a mid-week game to the Texas Longhorns in Austin (5-0) and the first of a two-game set to Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. (4-2) on Saturday. A&M bounced back in Sunday's finale against the Sooners to pound out nine runs on 10 hits, handing OU its first home loss, 9-4, in 25 games.
Joy Davis, the Aggies senior second baseman was 5-for-9 on the week, hitting .556. Davis was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle on Sunday, smacking a triple in her first at bat, then a single and finished off with a double. It was the second time this season Davis recorded three hits in a game, her fourth multi-hit game this year.
Megan Gibson tied All-American catcher, Selena Collins for the Aggie career lead in home runs (39) with her three-run shot in the first inning of Sunday's game in Oklahoma. Gibson also owns the Aggie career lead in walks (102).
Baylor (34-9) brings a perfect 4-0 conference record and an eight-game winning streak to College Station after sweeping Kansas this weekend in Lawrence, Kan. The Lady Bears played a mid-week, non-conference doubleheader against Texas-San Antonio on Wednesday, beating the Roadrunners 4-1, 9-1, respectively.
Ashley Monceaux is batting .393 for BU, with nine doubles, 11 home runs and 43 RBI. The senior from Tucson, Ariz. also boasts a .738 slugging percentage. She is a perfect 12-for-12 on the year in stolen bases. Lisa Ferguson has tossed 121.1 innings of work in the circle, for Baylor, posting a 15-4 record with a 1.62 ERA.
A&M holds a 49-15-1 all-time advantage over Baylor. The two teams split the series last year with the Aggies winning 4-3 in Waco and the Lady Bears shutting out A&M 5-0 in College Station.
