For the third straight year, Texas A&M diver Eric Sehn and diving coach Kevin Wright have swept the Big 12 men?â„¢s postseason diving awards, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Sehn, a junior from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, nabbed the Big 12 Diver of the Year honor after sweeping all three dives at the Big 12 Championships for the third straight year. The winningest athlete in A&M history, Sehn went on to finish in the top five in all three dives at the NCAA Championships and scored a school record 45 points at the national meet.
Wright, the Aggies?â„¢ diving coach for the last 15 years, earned the 13th conference Diving Coach of the Year honor, including the seventh men?â„¢s award of his career. Sehn, along with freshmen teammates Matt Platt and Henry Stevens, reached the Championship finals of all three dives at the 2007 Big 12 Championships.
Also being honored by the Big 12 were: Men- Swimmer of the Year: Garrett Weber-Gale (Texas); Newcomer of the Year: Ricky Berens (Texas); Swimming Coach of the Year: Eddie Reese (Texas); Women- Swimmer of the Year: Kristen Heiss (Texas A&M) ; Diver of the Year: Jessica Livingston (Texas); Newcomer of the Year: Alia Atkinson (Texas A&M); Swimming Coach of the Year: Steve Bultman (Texas A&M); Diving Coach of the Year: Matt Scoggin (Texas).
