Texas A&M Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione announced the 2007 Aggie Leadership Council today.
"I think the players take a lot of pride in selecting our leaders who serve," Coach Fran said. "This is a great group and I continue to be impressed with their effort, dedication and leadership. I am pleased with the work the entire team is putting in this spring."
Members of the 14-person Leadership Council are: seniors Chris Alexander, Red Bryant, Mark Dodge, Kirk Elder, Kerry Franks, Chris Harrington, Earvin Taylor, Joey Thomas, Misi Tupe, Cody Wallace; juniors Devin Gregg, Nick LaMantia, Stephen McGee; and sophomore Jordan Peterson.
The new members of the council are running back Alexander, wide receiver Franks, defensive back Peterson, tight end Thomas and linebacker Tupe.
Nine of the 14 players are repeat members of the Leadership Council.
Coach Fran and the coaching staff split eight members of the Leadership Council between Maroon and White squads. The respective players will conduct a draft of the remaining squad members on Wednesday to determine the Maroon & White teams for this Saturday's spring game which will kick at 2 p.m. on Kyle Field.
The Maroon squad will be led by Bryant, Elder, Taylor and Tupe. The White squad will be headed by Dodge, Franks, Harrington and Wallace.
