Texas A&M junior Blake Stouffer was named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday.
Stouffer raised his season RBI total to 61 with nine in four games this week. He became the first A&M player to drive in 60 runs since Cory Patton (67) in 2004. For the weekend, Stouffer hit .500 (6-for-12) with three home runs and three runs scored. He recorded a slugging percentage of 1.125 and had an on-base percentage of .571. He hit a pair of two-run homers in Friday?â„¢s series-opening win (12-7) at Baylor Ballpark in Waco. In Saturday?â„¢s 5-3 victory, Stouffer delivered a two-RBI single in the ninth to put the Aggies up 4-0. On Sunday, he hit his third homer of the weekend, which was also a two-run blast.
Missouri junior Jacob Priday shared the award after hitting .545 (6-for-11) against Texas Tech last weekend as Missouri recorded a sweep of the Red Raiders. All six of Priday?â„¢s hits were extra-base hits, including three home runs. He drove in nine runs and scored six in the series. Priday connected for a two-run home run in the series opener then had two hits in game two with an RBI triple in the first inning and a two-run double in the third. He finished the weekend with a two-home run game in the series finale. After he drove in a run with a double in the first, he hit a two-run homer in the third inning. Priday then hit his fifth home run of the season to lead off the sixth inning.
Texas sophomore Austin Wood was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 on the week with a 0.75 ERA in two starts. He held Oklahoma State?â„¢s offense scoreless for six innings, scattered three hits with two walks while striking out three as Texas earned the first-ever three-game sweep of OSU at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The Cowboys came into the three-game series with the conference?â„¢s highest batting average and most runs scored. Wood?â„¢s pitching contributed to handing the Cowboys their its first shutout at Reynolds Stadium in nine years. In Texas?â„¢ game on Tuesday, Wood held UT-Pan American to one run on four hits while striking out five over six innings.
