Texas A&M junior Blake Stouffer was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for the second straight week and third time this season, the league office announced Monday.
Stouffer hit .900 for the week with eight RBI in a three-game sweep of Dallas Baptist. His 2007 season total RBI (69) is the 10th-highest in school history as he is averaging 1.41 RBI per game. The San Antonio native also contributed three doubles, a home run and seven runs scored against Dallas Baptist. He slugged 1.500 and had an on-base percentage of .875, drawing four walks and taking a hit by a pitch. In Thursday?â„¢s series opener and victory (11-10), Stouffer went 5-for-5 with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. Friday the Aggies defeated the Patriots, 3-0 and Stouffer went 3-for-4 with a double, a RBI and a run scored. In the series sweep on Saturday (14-6), Stouffer went 1-for-1 with a two-run homer and bases loaded walk.
Baylor's Wade Mackey was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week after tossing the Bears' first complete-game shutout in more than one calendar year with a 3-0 win at No. 23 TCU. His shutout was Baylor?â„¢s first complete-game against a ranked opponent since Mark McCormick accomplished the feat March 20, 2004, against then-No. 9 Texas A&M. Prior to this outing, his previous career long was five innings on three occasions. The Van, Texas native retired 13 consecutive batters between the third and seventh innings and 20 of the final 21 batters faced. He recorded five strikeouts and both hits allowed were to the same batter, a one-out second-inning single and a two-out seventh-inning bunt single.
