Junior David Newmann was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for games of May 8-14, the conference announced Monday.

Newmann helped the Aggies to a 2-1 win over Kansas State in Manhattan on Saturday. He threw eight complete innings and allowed only an unearned run on three hits. He struck out eight hitters to increase his season total to 81 in 81 1/3 innings and walked just one Wildcat hitter. The Houston, Texas native allowed only four runners into scoring position and two of them got there due to errors in the field.

Tyler Mach of Oklahoma State was named Big 12 Player of the Week after leading Oklahoma State to a three-game sweep at Texas Tech by hitting .429 with three homers and eight RBI. He was 6-for-14 in the series, scored five runs, recorded 15 total bases and had a 1.071 slugging percentage. In Friday?â„¢s opener, he went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and he topped that on Saturday with a 2-for-5, five-RBI effort in which he homered in his final two at bats. On Sunday, he homered in the first inning to give him a homer in three consecutive at bats in the series. The Kent, Wash. native drove in a pair of runs in the finale. Mach is hitting .408 this season with 14 home runs and a team-high 67 RBI.
