Consecutive baskets by Texas A&M?â„¢s Donald Sloan sparked United States-based Athletics in Action to a 106-68 rout of Qatar on Tuesday at the 2007 William R. Jones Cup.
AIA captured the gold medal at the 2006 Jones Cup and was defeated only once, by Qatar, en route to winning the championship.
Behind Sloan?â„¢s scoring barrage, AIA (1-1) seized control of the game early and raced out to a 16-7 lead. Sloan finished with nine points.
Brian Asbury (Miami, Fla./Miami) led all scorers with 17 points and Todd
Hendley (Sanford, N.C./UNC Wilmington) added 15 points.
AIA next faces Korea on Wednesday, July 4, at 5:30 p.m. local time (5:30 a.m. EDT).
