Despite getting 12 points and five assists from Texas A&M?â„¢s Donald Sloan, Athletes In Action dropped a 69-66 decision to Jordan on Thursday in the Jones Cup.

Miami?â„¢s Brian Asbury led AIA (2-2) with 14 points.

Jordan (2-2) led by as many as 13 points in the second quarter, but a 17-5 run by the U.S. trimmed the lead to one late in the half.

Two free throws by Sloan at the end of the third period gave AIA a 52-50 lead. But Jordan went on an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter for an eight-point advantage and the U.S. never recovered.

?Jordan took control of the game early and was able to make the big plays at the end to win,? Head Coach Mike Jarvis said. ?I am still proud of my team. We got behind early and we had to expend a lot of energy to comeback and then when we got back we didn?â„¢t make the plays we needed to make.?

AIA faces Lebanon on Friday at 1 p.m. (midnight CDT).
