Texas A&M junior-to-be Triin Aljand (Tallinn, Estonia) set three new Estonian national swimming records at the 2007 Texas Senior Circuit Long Course Championships this past weekend in Austin.

Aljand, an eight-time Big 12 champion, set new Estonian marks in both the 100-meter butterfly (1:01.68) and 50-meter backstroke (29.45) Saturday night at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

The following evening, Aljand ran away with first place in the 50-meter butterfly by more than a second-and-a-half over former Longhorn All-American Tanica Jamison, setting a new national mark of 26.72 in the process.

In other swimming action, A&M sophomore-to-be Alia Atkinson (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) finished eighth in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Thursday. The Big 12 Newcomer of the Year is slated to begin competition in the 200-meter breast over the weekend.
