Three Texas A&M football players were named to the preseason All-Big 12 Conference team, the conference office announced Friday.
Representing the Aggies on the 27-player squad were senior offensive center Cody Wallace, sophomore running back Mike Goodson and senior defensive end Chris Harrington.
An all-conference pick in 2006 by the Waco Tribune Herald and the Austin American Statesman, Wallace (Cuero, Texas) is among the favorites for the 2007 Rimington Trophy, which is given annually to the nation?â„¢s top center. Wallace has made 24 starts on an offensive front that paved the way for one of the nation?â„¢s top rushing attacks (206.8 yards per game) last season.
Goodson (Klein, Texas) was the Big 12?â„¢s top freshman rusher last season with 847 yards and averaged 6.7 yards per carry. Goodson was even better against Big 12 opponents, rushing for 80.3 yards per game and averaging an impressive 7.4 yards per carry.
An All-Big 12 selection by four publications last season, Harrington (Houston, Texas) was the Aggies?â„¢ leader in quarterback sacks and tackles for loss of yardage in 2006. Harrington contributed 7.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles behind the line while leading the Aggies?â„¢ defensive front in tackles.
The Aggies report for fall camp on Sunday, Aug. 5, and begin practice the following day.
