Texas A&M soccer seniors Paige Carmichael and Ashlee Pistorius were named to the 2007 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced today.

?It is so exciting to see two of our great players singled out among the most elite in college soccer,? A&M head coach G Guerrieri said. ?I am obviously very proud of what Paige and Ashlee have accomplished here at Texas A&M and know that they view individual honors as secondary to the team goals which continue to motivate them both.?

Carmichael and Pistorius are two of 45 players named to the initial watch list. Thirteen schools have multiple representatives. The North Carolina Tar Heels boast the most players on the list with four while BYU, Connecticut, Illinois, Notre Dame, Penn State, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, Virginia and William and Mary each have two.

In her junior campaign, Carmichael earned NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division I Women All-Central Region honors and was a member of the All-Big 12 second team and Big 12 Championship All-Tournament team. The Arizona-native scored a goal and chipped in six assists while playing in the defensive midfield.

Pistorius finds herself on the watch list for the second time in her Aggie career. The junior forward led A&M in scoring last season with 15 goals and also managed to dish out five assists. Pistorius earned NSCAA/adidas Women's Division I All-America honors last season as well as being a part of the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division I Women All-Central Region first team, All-Big 12 second team and Big 12 Championship All-Tournament team.

Players are selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List by a committee of Division I coaches who are NSCAA members. In November, the list will be narrowed to 15 semifinalists. Three finalists will be named in early December in conjunction with the NCAA Division I College Cup and will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, January 11, 2008. The winner of the 2007 award will be announced during a nationally-televised news conference that evening.
