Texas A&M men?â„¢s tennis standout Conor Pollock (San Antonio, Texas) continues to find success competing as an amateur on the USTA Men?â„¢s Futures circuit this summer.
Pollock has won 11-straight qualifying matches combined in four Futures tournaments held in Joplin, Mo., Godfrey, Ill., Decatur, Ill., and Milwaukee, Wis. He posted an impressive 14-4 record in singles competition and defeated Ohio State?â„¢s Bryan Koniecko and India?â„¢s Suni-Kumar Sipaeya to reach the quarterfinals of the main draw Friday. Pollock eventually lost to second-seeded Michael Yani, 7-6 (2), 6-2.
In doubles action, Pollock came out on top at both the Joplin and Decatur sites. He combined with UNLV?â„¢s Joel Kielbowicz for a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Colin Purcell and Danny Bryan in last weekend?â„¢s doubles final held in Decatur. Pollock has positioned himself well for a third title as he and doubles partner Rodrigo-Antonio Grilli of Brazil advanced to Sunday?â„¢s doubles final in Milwaukee.
