A&M Men Ranked 11th, Women 20th in Golf World Preaseason Polls

The Texas A&M men's golf team is ranked No. 11 and the Aggie women are No. 20 the Golf World preseason coaches' polls released on Wednesday.

In their seventh season under Head Coach J.T. Higgins, the experienced men return all five starters from last year's team that was the runner-up at the Big 12 Championship and was ranked 13th at the end of the season.

Junior Bronson Burgoon is a returning All-American and, along with seniors Bobby Gates and Martin Piller, earned All-Big 12 honors last spring. Senior Trey Todd and sophomore Austin Schauer also are returning starters.

The men open the season at the Inverness Intercollegiate Sept. 10-11 in Toledo, Ohio.

In their first season under Head Coach Trelle McCombs, the women have won two straight Big 12 Championships and return three starters from last season. Junior Lauren Johnson and sophomore Danielle McVeigh earned All-Big 12 honors in 2007 while sophomore Ashley Freeman also returns. In addition, McCombs welcomes one of the nation's top freshman classes.

The women open the season at the Cougar Classic Sept. 9-11 in Hanahan, S.C.
