The Texas A&M women's golf team is ranked No. 20 nationally in the the preseason Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association poll released on Wednesday.
In their first season under Head Coach Trelle McCombs, the Aggies have won two straight Big 12 Championships and return three starters from last season. Junior Lauren Johnson and sophomore Danielle McVeigh earned All-Big 12 honors in 2007 while sophomore Ashley Freeman also returns. In addition, McCombs welcomes one of the nation's top freshman classes.
The Aggies open the season at the Cougar Classic Sept. 9-11 in Hanahan, S.C.
Three-time defending NCAA champion Duke is ranked No. 1 with Arizona State, UCLA, Southern California and Auburn rounding out the top five.
