Texas A&M?™s Eric Sehn remained unbeaten against collegians with two more diving wins but the No. 24 Aggies fell to top-ranked Texas, 129-106, in a State Farm Lone Star Showdown dual meet on Saturday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Swimming Center.
Sehn ran his season record to 15-0 in collegiate meets with wins on the one- and three-meter springboards on Saturday. The junior from Edmonton, Alberta Canada scored 347.92 on the 1m and 383.70 on the 3m to notch solid victories over his closest rival in the Big 12, Texas?™ Mike Wong.
?Eric just continues to shine week-in and week-out,? A&M head swimming coach Jay Holmes said. ?When the lights come on, Eric is ready to compete. We depend on him a lot and he continues to produce.?
A three-time Big 12 Diver of the Week in 2006-07, Sehn?™s only non-winning efforts this season came at the 2007 Canadian World Championships Trials and Winter National Championships earlier this month in Quebec. He reached the finals in all three dives and was runner-up on the one-meter board.
In other action, sophomore James Hard grabbed a pair of second-place finishes with a 4:35.09 effort in the 500-yard freestyle and a time of 9:32.63 in the 1,000 free.
True freshman Casey Strange placed second in the 50 free in 20.91 and third in the 100 free in 46.29.
Junior Alejandro Jacobo placed second in the 100 breaststroke in 56.02 and was closely followed by teammates Luke Chambless (3rd, 57.90) and Francisco Picasso (4th, 58.20).
True freshman Israel Duran Mata took third in the 100 backstroke with a season-best 49.70, which ranks No. 10 on A&M?™s 100 back list.
