Texas A&M sophomore defender Nicole Ketchum was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. It was Ketchum?â„¢s first conference player of the week honor.
Ketchum was responsible for netting both of the Aggies?â„¢ gamewinners over the weekend on the road against Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Ketchum?â„¢s first goal came off a low ball from Pistorius towards the far post sealing the 2-1 victory over the No. 20 Cowgirls. Against the Sooners on Sunday Ketchum headed home a free kick in the first half for the 1-0 shutout.
The four goals scored this season is a personal-best for the Cypress, Texas-native, as Ketchum logged three goals during her freshman campaign.
The 5th-ranked Aggies will play host to the 4th-ranked Texas Longhorns in Friday?â„¢s State Farm Lone Star Showdown. The match is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
