The Texas A&M softball team posted a 10-1 victory over Southern Miss in the first game of the Spring/Klein College Classic Saturday morning.
All-American pitcher Megan Gibson was credited with the Aggies?â„¢ win in the circle. The senior from Spring, Texas worked four innings allowing just one run on two hits. Gibson struck out seven Golden Eagle batters.
Junior transfer, Erin Glasco led the way for A&M at the plate as the Aggie catcher drove in three runs off a sharply lined double. Scoring three of the Ags?â„¢ 10 runs was junior shortstop Holly Ridley who also drew three of A&M?â„¢s nine walks on the afternoon.
The Aggies loaded the bases three times during the game, posting two runs in the second inning, one in the third, one in the fifth and six in the sixth to bring the run-rule into effect.
A&M will return to action at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday evening as it takes on the Rajin?â„¢ Cajuns from Louisiana-Lafayette.
