Following a very successful weekend in Ames, Iowa, the Texas A&M women?™s swimming & diving team has been ranked sixth in the first College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 poll released Tuesday.

The Aggies are tied for the No. 6 spot with the University of Florida. The ranking is the highest that the Aggies have ever been ranked in the season-opening poll (previous high was No. 9 in last season?™s first poll).

Two-time defending national champion Auburn, who will make a trip to College Station on Jan. 12, is ranked first, followed by Stanford, California, and Arizona. The Aggies and Gators are both receiving 174 points in the poll, just three behind 2005 national champion Georgia (177).

Other past and future opponents ranked in the first poll of the season are Texas (7), SMU (10), Michigan (13), USC (15), Wisconsin (16), Missouri (20), and Florida State (21). Louisiana State, another future Aggie opponent is one spot outside the poll at No. 26.

The Texas A&M women will be back in action this Friday and Saturday at the SMU Invitational in Dallas. They will also contest dual meets against Northern Arizona and North Texas in Denton as well.
