The Texas A&M softball squad selected senior All-Americans Amanda Scarborough and Megan Gibson as team captains for the 2008 season, Aggie head coach Jo Evans announced.
Last season Scarborough posted a 1.17 ERA in the circle. The Magnolia, Texas-native struck out a season-best 233 batters en route to 26 victories for the Aggies. At the plate Scarborough lead the team in RBIs with 46. She was also tied with freshman Macie Morrow for the team-lead in doubles (11).
Gibson blasted 13 homeruns and 51 walks during her junior campaign to take over as the Aggie career leader in both categories. The Spring, Texas- native posted a 1.54 ERA for A&M, working 155 innings, striking out 157 batters while earning 17 wins in the circle.
The Aggies will begin the 2008 season with a double header on Friday, Feb. 8 against New Mexico State and Cal Poly at the Cathedral City Kickoff in Cathedral City, Calif.
Game times are set for 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
