Texas A&M carded a final round of 296 on Sunday and finished eighth at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational at the University of North Carolina's Finley Golf Course.
Duke captured the title with a 54-hole score of 877, nipping Tennessee (879) by just two strokes. Georgia (885) and Auburn (885) tied for third, followed by Wake Forest (886), Vanderbilt (886), North Carolina State (889), A&M (302-294-296=892), Virginia (897), Oklahoma State (899), North Carolina (900), Tulsa (901), South Carolina (902), Florida State (905), East Carolina (906), Texas (912), Kentucky (930) and the College of Charleston (940).
Duke's Amanda Blumenherst took individual honors with a seven-under-par total of 71-68-70=209.
A&M had three players tie for 19th place -- sophomore Danielle McVeigh (75-75-72=222), sophomore Ashley Freeman (77-72-73=222) and freshman Sarah Zwartynski (75-73-74=222). Junior Lauren Johnson tied for 39th (75-74-77=226) and junior Jodi Neal placed 88th (87-78-78=243).
The Aggies are back in action at the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown Oct. 29-31 in Henderson, Nev.
