Andrea Pavan fired a three-under-par 69 on Monday to lead Texas A&M into third place after the first round of the CordeValle Collegiate at CordeValle Golf Club.
A&M posted a team score of even-par 360 and trails leader UCLA (353) by seven strokes going into Tuesday's second round. Coastal Carolina is in third at 354. A&M ranks ahead of Stanford (363), USC (363), Augusta State (365), Lamar (365), Arizona (370), Northwestern (371), Santa Clara (373) and Washington (375).
UCLA's James Lee is the individual leader by three strokes after carding a seven-under 65. Pavan is tied for fifth place, four shots off the pace.
A&M's Austin Schauer is tied for 11th (71), Clay Hodge (73) and Bobby Gates (73) are tied for 25th, Trey Todd (74) is tied for 34th and Martin Piller (81) is in 66th.
Pavan eagled the par-4 8th hole and added three birdies in his round.
