Senior Martin Piller fired a three-under-par 69 on Wednesday as Texas A&M closed its fall schedule with a ninth-place finish at the CordeValle Collegiate at CordeValle Golf Club.
UCLA won the team title by 11 strokes with a 1,068 total. Stanford was second at 1,079, followed by USC (1,087), Lamar (1,089), Augusta State (1,090), Northwestern (1,093), Coastal Carolina (1,097), Arizona (1,102), A&M (360-374-372=1,106), Washington (1,115) and Santa Clara (1,145).
UCLA's James Lee (65-72-754=211), Stanford's Sihwan Kim (74-68-69=211) and Augusta State's Henrik Norlander (68-72-71=211) tied for individual honors at 5-under-par.
A&M's Bobby Gates (73-69-76=218) tied for 20th, Clay Hodge (73-75-71=219) tied for 25th, Andrea Pavan (69-80-75=224) tied for 40th, Austin Schauer (71-76-81=228) tied for 50th, Piller (81-79-69=229) tied for 54th and Trey Todd (74-75-81=230) placed 57th.
The Aggies open their spring season at the John Burns Intercolleguate Feb. 20-22 in Leilahua, Hawaii.
